Chocolate Overnight Oats

 

If you have read a few of my previous posts, you will know by now that I love quick effortless meals where you don’t have to sacrifice the nutritional content.

Breakfast, being the most important meal of the day, I try to include as many vitamins and minerals as possible. Studies show that your body absorbs nutrients slightly better in the morning compared to other times of day, a great reason to ensure you have a superstar breakfast!

I eat oatmeal all the time, I like it the lazy way, raw and uncooked. When I learned about overnight oats I was so excited, because oats cant get any lazier than overnight oats! Its so quick, so delicious and very nutritious! What I love the most is that overnight oats seem to be more filling. I literally skipped lunch without realizing it, simply because I was still full at lunch time! If you’re trying to drop a few pounds, this recipe should be on your list.

Here’s how I made mine.

 

Ingredients:

½ Cup organic old fashioned rolled oats. (Quick oats will not work as well)

½ Cup plain yogurt

1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

1 Teaspoon Chia Seeds

½ Teaspoon ground Flax Seeds

½ Teaspoon Maca Root Powder

½ Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
¼ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
A Pinch of cinnamon powder
1 Tablespoon agave or honey
1 Teaspoon Almond Butter
Sprinkle of Organic Cacao Nibs
Sprinkle of Shredded Coconut
Sprinkle of Pecans

Directions:
In a Mason jar or bowl of your choice, add all ingredients except the toppings and give it a good shake or stir.
Cover it well and place it in the fridge overnight.
The next morning, sprinkle with cacao nibs, shredded coconut and pecans. You may also choose to layer some more yogurt, completely optional!
Eat and enjoy!
