Kelp The Ultimate Superfood

Kelp The Ultimate Superfood

I’m currently in a transition phase of growing my hair to get rid of over processed, damaged, split ends that have been caused as a result of bleaching and heat damage. In addition to making sure my diet is in tip top shape, because healthy hair starts from within. I am always looking for other things I can do to help speed up my hair growth rate and enhance the health of my new hair growth.

While on this search, I came across something called Kelp. I get so excited when I tell people about it. Kelp is a type of seaweed or algae which is popular in Asian diets. Research has shown that Japanese women whose diets contain healthy amounts of kelp, have the lowest rates of breast, ovarian and endometrial cancer in the world. If this isn’t a good enough reason to start consuming Kelp, then I don’t know what is. It is referred to as a superfood because of the amount of nutrients it contains. Kelp has proven to be an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-tumor, anti-biotic, anti-viral and immune stimulating. It contains high amounts of vitamins B, C & E, and minerals such as folic acid, iron, zinc, calcium, boron, copper, niacin, thiamin & magnesium. It is also rich in chlorophyll and iodine which is extremely important for a healthy thyroid. Research has shown that 15% of women have an iodine deficiency. So ladies, you need to get excited about this too!

Because of the endless amounts of nutrition found in kelp, it has been proven to assist with healthy hair, skin and nails. It is super beneficial for women during menstruation, pregnancy and new mothers.

With regards to consumption, it is always best to eat your nutrients however you can take kelp as a supplement. I have been consuming Kelp in liquid form for almost 2 years. I highly recommend it, especially for women! Here’s how I incorporate Kelp into my diet.
